Properties:
It is salty in flavour, slightly cold in nature. It acts
on stomach and liver channels with character of moving and
penetrating. It is good at dispersing and promoting Qi
circulation. Being salty for softening and resolving hard
mass, it can promote blood circulation, relieve blood
stasis. clear channels and resolve mass in the abdomen. It
is usually used to treat amenorrhea due to blood stasis
and abdominal mass. In addition it can
clear the mammary ducts to promote lactation and is used
to treat postpartum agalactosis. Owing to its property of
moving and penetrating, dispersing, and promoting the
circulation of Qi, it can be used to treat swelling and
pain due to carbuncle with the effect of subduing swelling
and draining pus.

Indications:
1.
For treatment of amenorrhea due to blood stasis,
abdominal mass, it is usually used in combination with
Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong,
Rhizoma Sparganii, Rhizoma Zedoariae, and other herbs with
the effects of promoting blood flow to regulate
menstruation, or relieving blood stasis and lumps; For
treatment of stagnation of Qi in the mammary channel after
delivery, swelling and fullness of breast, agalactosis, it
is always used together with Semen Vaccariae, Caulis
Clematidis Armandii, Fructus Liquidambaris, Radix Bupleuri,
and other herbs to promote blood circulation by regulating
the flow of Qi, to clear and activate the collaterals and
to induce and promote lactation; In case of deficiency of
both Qi and blood, hypogalactia, it should be used
together with Radix Astragali seu Hedysari, Radix
Angelicae Sinensis, Semen Vaccariae, and other herbs with
the effects of invigorating Qi and nourishing the blood.

For treatment of skin ulcers and carbuncles in the
early stage or mature pustules without draining of pus, it
is usually used in combination with Flos Lonicerae, Radix
Trichosanthis, Resina Olibani, Myrrha, Spina Gleditsiae,
and other herbs with the effects of promoting blood flow,
subduing swelling, clearing toxins and promoting pus
discharge; For treatment of toxic scrofula and suppurative
infection on body surface, it is used together with Concha
Ostreae, Spica Prunellae, Carapax Trionycis, and other
drugs with the effects of softening and resolving hard
mass.
Besides,
it is used to treat numbness and pain due to
wind-dampness, spasm of limbs.
Dosage
and Administration: 5-10g
decocted in water for an oral dose. 1-1.5g ground into
powder for swallowing.
Precautions:
