Properties:
It is sweet in flavour, warm in nature, and acts on the
spleen and stomach channels. It is indicated for expelling
roundworms. Being sweet and warm for strengthening the
spleen, fragrant and delicious, without obviously toxic
side-effects, the herb is often used to treat abdominal
pain due to roundworms in children.
Effects:
Killing parasites and strengthening the spleen.
Indications:
1. To treat
abdominal pain due to roundworms, the herb can be
stir-baked fragrant. chewed and swallowed for mild
illness, and used in combination with black plum,
chinaberry bark and other herb for expelling rondworms for
heavy infestation.
2. To treat
infantile malnutrition, indigestion, emaciation with
sallow complexion or abdominal pain due to parasitosis,
the herb is often used in combination with medicated
leaven, germinated barley, coptis root, areca seed and
other herbs for reliving stagnated food and killing
parasites.
Dosage and
Administration: 6-12g.
Smashed and decocted, or stir-baked fragrant, chewed and
swallowed. For children, the herb is stir-baked fragrant,
chewed and swallowed with empty stomach for 2-3
consecutive days, 1.5 grams a day per year of age, but the
total amount should not exceed 20 grams.
Precautions:
Taking the herb in an excessive dose or with hot tea can
cause dizziness, hiccup and vomiting, which will alleviate
after patients stop taking it. Therefore, it should not be
taken in an excessive dose or with hot tea.
