Glutinous Rice Root (nuo dao gen xu)

Radix Oryzae Glutinosae

Properties: It is sweet in flavour, neutral in nature, and tropistic to the heart and liver channels. It functions specially in stopping sweating, serving for spontaneous perspiration, night sweat and hyperhidrosis due to general asthenia. It also can lower asthenic heat, for treatment of fever due to Yin-deficiency. But being weak in potency, it is often used as an adjuvant.

Effects: Arresting sweating and reducing asthenic heat.

Indications: To treat spontaneous perspiration due to Qi-deficiency, and night sweat or ashenic fever due to Yin-deficiency, it is often used with remedies for replenishing Qi to consolidate the superficies, nourishing Yin and arresting sweating, and replenishing the vital essence and clearing asthenic heat, such as Radix Astragali seu Hedysani, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Radix Paeoniae Alab, Fructus Corni, Fructus Corni, Fructus Schisandrae, Os Drconis Fossilia Ossis Mastodi, Rhizoma Anemarrhenae and Radix Scrophulariae, etc.

Dosage and Administration: 15-30g.
