                      Properties:     
                      Salty and astringent in flavour, slightly warm in nature,     
                      it is tropistic to the liver and kidney channels. Being     
                      astringent in flavour it has astringent effect and also     
                      being salty it acts on the lower-jiao. Thus it functions     
                      specifically for astringency and arresting discharge     
                      without effect of tonification It is rather effective in     
                      stopping bleeding, strengthening the control of kidney     
                      essence, and inhibiting the seceretion of gastric acid,     
                      serving to treat symptoms of hemorrhage in the type of     
                      deficiency-cold, debility of the lower-jiao and     
                      stomachache with acid regurgitation.     
                      Effects:     
                      Inducing astringency hemostasis, keeping kidney essence,     
                      curing leukorrhagia, decreacing secretion of gastric acid     
                      to relieve stomachache.     
                      Indications:    
                            
                            
                             
                      1. For hemorrhage       
                      of the lung and the stomach, it is ground with Rhizoma       
                      Bletillae into powder for oral administration, serving to       
                      treat mentrorrhagia and menorrhagia in the type of       
                      deficiency-cold of the Chong and Ren Meridians, it is used       
                      with herbs for curing metrorrhagia and stopping bleeding       
                      such as Radix Rubiae, Trachycarpi Carbonisatus, Fructus    
                      Corni, etc. For bleeding from trauma it is ground into powder       
                      for external use.       
                      2. For       
                      spermatorrhea due to deficiency of the kidney, it is used       
                      with other drugs for invigorating the kidney to preserve       
                      essence, such as Semen Astragali Complanati, Semen    
                      Nelumbinis, Os Draconis Fossilia Ossis Mastodi, etc. For       
                      leukorrhagia of deficiency-clod type, it is used with       
                      herbs for warming and invigorating the spleen and the       
                      kidney, eliminating dampness and curing leukorrhagia, such       
                      as Cornu Cervi Degelatinatum, Rhizoma Atractylodis,       
                      Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Pericarpium Citri    
                      Reticulatae, Rhizoma Dioscoreae, etc.       
                      3. For stomachache       
                      and acid regurgitation, it is often used with Bulbus    
                      Fritillariae, i.e. Cuttle-bone and Fritillary Bulb Powder    
                      (Wubei San).       
                      4. For exudative       
                      skin infections, unhealed eczema and purpulent ulcer, it       
                      can be used with drugs for reducing exudation and       
                      accelerating sore healing, promoting tissue regeneration       
                      and relieving pain, such as Cortex Phellodendri, Calcined       
                      Gypsum Fibrosum, Resina Clibani, etc.       
                      Dosage and     
                      Administration: 3-10g;      
                      1.5-3g of its powder for each swallow; proper amount for
